AoT is a bit overrated tbh. It's a very good action anime, but it has it's low points but that's more due the manga it's based off, not so much the animation and audio team.

Monogatari is the best 2013 anime in a critical sense. Animation, soundtrack, art*(note: I am using a still from the anime as my background, it's so goddamn HD that you can pause and get multiple scenery-porn shots)., story, characters all surpass those others by leaps and bounds. But popularity wise I'm not surprised SNK lost.

I mean its a poll of less than 2 hundred.


But the fact that Railgun S is on there, that it beat KLK, and a lot of other no-names are there.....eh. I mean that anime list is about as valid as Sankaku's shit every 2 days.

That's because Monogatari is the pinnacle of the ecchi genre, shining down light on an otherwise dark cliche genre.

You don't understand.

Monogatari is to the romance/ecchi/story genre what Fate/Zero is to the action, what HxH is to the shonen, what SNK/SAO is to the mainstream.


It's not only exceptionally well done in characters, animation, and themes, it's probably the only show that has decent/interesting dialogue with visual eye-candy mixed in throughout the entire show. I don't have to sit there and watch two fucking morons explain to me what magic is. I don't have to sit there and watch "senpai!" bullshit moe. It's just...more mature? more direct? Less repetitive bullshit?
