For the love of god don't get the 4790k, it adds 500Mhz to the clock and makes no real changes to the CPU itself, you'd be better off getting the cheaper Z87 boards and the cheaper 4670k for gaming since you don't need the extra threads that the 4770k provides. You could always overclock.

Depending on the type of overclocking, he may be better off with the 4790K. The refresh series have much better TIM inside and thus have much better overclocking potential.
    THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST

I still think that a cheaper CPU and Mobo would benefit him more. If the OP got some good cooling then the advantage that the 4790k has over the 4670k in the thermals department would be mitigated. In the end it's up to the OP, if he wants to splash down a few more dollars then so be it, I can see where you're coming from.

The price it's just like $20 highers O_o there's not that much difference so is better getting the 4790k than the 4770k

The Motherboards are the main difference, you'll want a decent motherboard to support this build, that's why I recommend the older versions.

The newer motherboards should support Broadwell when it comes out, so going with the z97 motherboards should be more "futureproof"
