Its not always about how fast a company develops updates for their operating system, IOS 8 is litterally IOS 7 but just has performance improvements and a few other little tweaks like icon changes and new apps. For android google take time to work on their operating systems and make it so it has alot of major improvements every big version e.g Android 4.1 Having a completely new UI and project butter with a few other good features. You can also root using android which gives you more things to customise it with, if you jailbreak an iphone you have like half of the features and if you get an iphone with a version that you cannot jailbreak on then its pretty shit.
