Sword Art Online II Episode 1 Discussion

Well going into this anime I am no longer looking at plot since I know form previous Online Series that they can't do that kind of crap. But instead I'm looking forward to just the action and suspense that has so far been done really well in the first episode. I also see A-1 Pictures is pulling money out of there budget from SAO and putting it into this because so far it looks gorgeous. Also the ending song wasn't bad either and I liked it. Not many plot holes so far and I hope to see this actually done well but I don't expect to much from this but I still want to see it as one of the better anime this summer.

Yeah......this isn't going to be "best of season" or even in the top 5-10 by the looks of it.
The animation looked rather mediocre. Not really surprising given it's A-1 pictures, but the quality was imo worse than the original's debut.


Not too many plotholes? How about:
1. Balance patchin in an MMO = reason to kill the guy, the same guy who didn't implement the patch but only profited from it(lol).
2. "Death Gun" is just some random asshole who shot a tv screen and the guy died from a heart attack. Is this deathnote? Does he not even have to have direct contact? What the fuck is his problem anyway, someone bragging about being good in a video game? Holy fucking shit is that pathetic. It's like internet justice wish fufillment.

3. The government is even bothering to ask some random gamer about a homicide. My fucking god that is retarded. Instead of asking the developer, a biologist, or pretty much anyone with an education, they ask this moron. This fucking random ass kid, about a game he hasn't even played.

How the conversation should have gone:
Agent: "Hey kid, you think it's possible to give someone a heart attack through a video game"? "
Kirito: "Well I don't know mister, you think I know anything about neuroscience or even how these fucking devices actually work?"
Agent:"Well... I..uh...."
Kirito: "Wait, so you just asked me if it's possible, knowing all I have is an incomplete highschool education? Just because I "beat" some video game?"
Agent: "Yeah, you're right, that was stupid. Never mind then."

4. Two really stupid examples:
A) The bullet somehow working through the electrical outlet. This just shows how fucking stupid kirito is.
B) The "this one world spawned another" from asuna. Completely not knowing how game dev works.


5. New main-secondary character
-"Compared to that time"
-Holy shit, flashback episode. Yay, we have to watch some pathetic "trauma", dear god SAO, you aren't deep enough for this shit.


Ending:
-Didn't like the song.
-If you can deflect bullets with a sword, EVERYONE would use the sword. I mean that's practically every sword fans dream gameplay.

Explanation: I don't want a deeper explanation, I already know the story.*(trust me, you are going to be going "well that's fucking stupid" by the end of it). The problem is that having death gun not even shoot the guy is ridiculous knowing what actually causes the death.

-I can't even begin to explain how unendingly stupid the story is but I can try.

I'd love to say the action WILL be done right but given that really only a couple episodes in the original were decent and Alfheim had lazy animation fucking everywhere.....dunno about that.

For instance most of the flying. Simple animation with the background moving. A lot of that shit. General shitty animation during talking, blah blah blah, alfheim really just lacked quality throughout and only had 1-2 scenes of above average animation.

And given the first episode, we still don't know how this season will play out, but i'm not exactly a fan of A-1's animation choices as a whole.

Shaft, Ufotable, Production I.G. Gainax/Trigger, bones, etc. etc.


A-1 has a pretty bad habit of just flopping by the time the story hits its climax. Magi-2 had an awful case of this. SAO-Alfheim did this as well.

Although I commend them on above average action scenes at times and decently consistent character models, as a whole SAO was just-barely above average. Right now it's hitting the average mark entirely, but wait to see it later I guess.

But on the story, Alfheim was awful because of the story. GGO will probably leave a lot of watchers with distaste given how stupid the plot is.

Characters:
Kirito is his usual gary stu self.
Asuna is again, unimportant and at the sidelines.
Shino is a "trauma case", one of those characters that is just a pain in the ass to watch.
"Death Gun" is pretty plain tbh.

So what you'll get is Gary Stu-Kirito going into a game to defeat the rather stereotypical villain "Death Gun" and adding Shino to his harem list.

When they defeat "Death Gun" i'm just going to make a thread trashing SAO. Because god damn does that ending just prove how stupid the SAO-verse is.
