GFX newbies, I want your opinions.

We've done contests here before. In fact, there was a time when contests were held on a regular basis and were actually worth competing in.
It was fun.

Seeing as so many of you are resistant to critique and get offended when we tell you to look at tutorials, I want to test the waters.

How would you aspiring Photoshop ninjas feel about a contest where you could possibly win something of substance (a Visa gift card, Amazon money, etc.)?

You'd like that right? Right.

There's one condition:

Upon signing up, you would be given a beginner tutorial for small art. Your task is to go over the tutorial, get comfortable with the concept (simple stuff, nothing too abstract) and create something using that concept to the best of your ability.

Not COPY IT, but use it as a guide. Obvious copies would be disqualified, and the entry that's most well executed would win, judged by myself and a small panel of my choosing.

Reply and tell me if you would enter something like this.

I know most of you will do just about anything for some cash.

If there'd be a gimp competition, i'd participate, then in case of victory i'd just gift the reward to the 2nd placed as i'm not too newbie with that program.

You can use Gimp if you choose. There's no limit to medium as long as it's digital.

Usually tutorials are for just one kind of software, that's why i asked that.

If you wish i can add a magicka steam gift as one of the rewards (which you'll handle how you prefer), as long as enough people would join, just so the contest is a little more appetible.

Im not really a good designer as you know, and its been a while I did anything.
Considering aswell there arent many designers here, I'd say this is not worthy to do right now.

The point is not to have people with experience in Graphics Design in the competition. It's to have people that are new to the scene, with say 2 - 3 months of PS under their belt.

I would love to be in the competition or be a judge. Either way I don't mind, would still love to participate. Hope this gets some attention from the people currently posting here and more people sign up.

Sadly, I think that's the case.

That's fine I guess. I was hoping for more interest, but I don't think this section is ever going to be active like it used to be.

Especially since tagging is pretty much a dead art form.
