Windows 8 Details Emerge - Business Center - PC World
This news is interesting because we always thought Windows 7 would be the last release that had 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This was brought on by the fact that Windows Server 2008 R2, the server version of Windows 7, was the first Windows Server release to be 64-bit only. The next client version of Windows should therefore follow suit, but apparently Microsoft is going to prepare it for 128-bit as well.
According to Microsoft's plans to release a new desktop version of Windows every three years, Windows 8 is scheduled to become available in 2012.
fuck yeah

Wow wtf tell ur mommy to buy it czar
128 bit, that's fucking retarded, Why would you need that much memory.
First, 16 bit, it was 0xFFFF then 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF and now, holy fucking shit, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF That's going to make the size of an executable much larger. That's so fucking unnecessary.
Pretty epic though how you can fit 128 flags in one unsigned long -- 32 was good enough though >>

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.
If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?
Of course its gona get higher. Technology grows within each and every second. It will not halt, it will grow.
That's not what I meant. What I mean is it isn't practical at all, now software developers need to maintain three versions of their projects, one for 32-bit, another for 64, and yet another for 128. It means more then just rebuilding them, but some parts of the software(if it's close enough to the hardware) will need to be rewritten. It's just an unnecessarily step.
