I think there should be a downside to the Hourglass. The tooltip reads "Would you like to play with time...?" so I assume that the Hourglass is at least somewhat volatile. I'd imagine that it'd be like a one-armed bandit in the fact that it could cost somewhat less but only revive based on a chance.
