How not to get reset after playing in an XP lobby?

So I've joined a couple XP lobbies and reached Prestige 8 but I got reset after 4-5 hours to Prestige 2. Any way to make sure you do not get rest? Should I prestige too often after joining these lobbies or not?

Step 2: Learn to reverse Engineer
Step 3: Gain lots of CoD experience with the engine.
Step 4: Do the above.
