Is it really hard for a God-like being to exist?

What was before the big bang?
    How did time begin?
What was the first event that occurred?

It is possible for a being to exist that is beyond our understanding ..
A being that is eternal and had no beginning.
But that being is definitely not the one described in the religious books.

Just a theory though .. but still

As an atheist I believe you shouldn't bash or try to disprove other's religions. You have your believes, they have theirs, no need to be a jerk and tell them different.

    A theory based on what?
It depends what you mean by god-like. God's like Zeus are possible with technology, the christian god is self-contradictory so no, it couldn't exist.

So.....because we do not know we should say "god did it"? How is that not intellectually dishonest to the Nth degree?

This is a misunderstanding as to how time works. "Eternal" is an impossibility. If it weren't so then you wouldn't suspect a god that created everything anyways because the universe could be eternal instead and occam's razor would kill god.

    >_>

Concepts you can imagine are not indicative of possible reality.

No, we shouldn't say "god did it" ..
But why totally refuse the possibility that a "god-like being" could?

Well how does time work then?
Did it sprung into existence out of nothing?
    and isn't time eternal?

Could time be god? .. lol

Faith is a biased characteristic. And lets face it, humans are afraid of death.

It's not a matter of "could". Conceptually, magic solves all unanswered questions. It's a matter of where the evidence leads us, not what could possibly happen.

The theory of relativity? Basically(and this is simplifying it, which you really shouldn't do) time is dependent upon mass or "gravity". That is, if an object holds X mass or is moving at X speed, time moves differently, slower or faster than the other. Thing is, you have to have mass or matter in order for time to exist.

Well Krauss has an interesting book on that, but no, a universe from absolute "nothing" isn't coherant. Where did it come from? We don't know at the moment. Our race may never know.

Saying a god did it is claiming to know, which is incredibly dishonest.

Time isn't eternal, it's a unit of measurement.

Time can't be god, same reason.

Quantum physics made it apparent that everything is energy. Energy, as far as we can tell, can't be created or destroyed. It can change forms. That's what you are, beyond the self, this energy. That's what you've always been and always will be. When you look at the universe like this, you see that you are in a sense, immortal. Not the self that you identify with but something more fundamental, that energy that comes and goes, which goes beyond the identification of the self. That's what everything is; if this energy is merely changing in a constant flux, it's reasonable to assume that we are all God. But not in the Abrahamic meaning of the word.

This is, in a nutshell, Buddhism. There's plenty of views on the universe, you don't have to confine yourself to the dogma of Abrahamic religions.

There has to be. Everything is too perfect to just come out of no where. Our minds are not even 0.00000001 % able to comprehend so I don’t expect you to understand mortal.
