I completely agree with Royce. So the reason why event notifiers are paid is because the people who 'host' or own these notifiers have to run bots locally or through servers. It is most likely done through servers, so that the bots can be quick. The way notifiers work is that they put 'listening' bots in each realm, or most of them, and these bots listen for key words or key events such as the Hermit god saying <Hermit God>: I will drag you to a watery grave with my huge long schlong (or something like that). These bots will pick that up, and send it to a server that A hermit god is in the realm that they are in. Then the server sends this info out to every notifier client. This whole process, if hosted virtually, costs a good amount of money (as far as i am aware), and that is why they are paid. There is no 'free' event notifier to my notice.

To answer your second question:
If you know how to make bots, host them virtually, have them go into each server, listen for keywords in chat, then send that to a server, then make clients that can parse info from a server, and then make a log in system, then making a notifier is wicked easy.
