    Pentium or FX

I hear the Intel pentium g3258 is good with gaming but I don't really know if I should get because of it's cores. The AMD FX 8350 is an 8 core but is alot more than the pentium. Which one?

Honestly don't bother with the Pentiums they are nothing more then a bottleneck waiting to happen and they are horrendously slow and have no ability to overclock but do have better single core performance then the Bulldozer architecture. Personally I would recommend the FX-8320/50 black edition.

Honestly, some pentiums are good and my friend has a kick ass computer with a pentium in it. He doesn't play major games like cod aw or ghosts but since his graphics are good he's fine for almost everything he does. I think AMD is good for price if you don't have a high budget but in general you could probably find a really cheap I5 that beats most AMD you could find. I'd reccomend looking into i3 and i7's

Not completely true, at all. The G3258 is a fantastic BUDGET/casual use CPU.

Get the 8350 or 8320 for gaming, the G3258 is an option if you were to casually play games (excluding FarCry 4 (for example) because it disallows Dual-Core CPUs,) or just to browse/use the internet. The extra cores in the 83(2/5)0 may help when DirectX12 comes out and games correctly use it, if what I've seen is true. Also the extra cores will help with multitasking and programs (if they're multi-threaded) will also benefit.

Here's a better question. Can you wait for a future upgrade? Or will you even upgrade in the future? If you plan to doing something with your system in the future then it doesn't hurt to get a G3258 NOW and get like a i5-4690K or a i7-4790K in the future. Because those two are a bit better for gaming than AMD CPUs.

    Doh
I have 8320 black edition, is pretty good but most of the games only use in max 2 or 4 cores, so it is better if you i7 with powerful cores than FX with good cores but not so that powerful, my opinion and I only use AMD
