I've got some code here
Its supposed to load a .wav file, but it only takes filenames in LPTSTR format. And I have no idea what a LPTSTR is o_O? So I have no idea how to convert it. Please help...Code:result = dsound->Create(&wave, filename); if(result != DS_OK)return NULL;
Oh yeah here's error message:
Code:error C2664: 'CSoundManager::Create' : cannot convert parameter 2 from 'char *' to 'LPTSTR'

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."- Dwight D. Eisenhower

could try type casting to LPSTR, or you Could use the L or TEXT macros
I did it... still doesn't seem to be working....
I did this:
Code://attempt to load the wave file result = dsound->Create(&wave, (LPTSTR)filename); if(result != DS_OK)return NULL;That's the proto of Create so I don't see the problem.Code:HRESULT Create( CSound** ppSound, LPTSTR strWaveFileName, DWORD dwCreationFlags = 0, GUID guid3DAlgorithm = GUID_NULL, DWORD dwNumBuffers = 1 );
Hmmm... searched around a bit, and it seems DirectSound is obsolete... this might be the problem, it might be calling for audio libraries that don't exist. I think I might just go ahead and use OpenAL or something and screw this chapter on sound... it was explained that well anyway. >_<
