Agree with @Raphael03. Money is an essential part of society, no matter how you look at it. Money is trading in a more generalised way. Instead of having to find different items of similar value, you have to pay a certain amount of money. It saves time and is very efficient because money is universally accepted as long as there is some sort of society. There is nothing innately wrong with the concept of money, it is a very good idea and very fair; earn money, buy things you want. The problem is when corruption comes into play and the system is no longer fair, then it defeats the whole purpose of 'earn what you want' because there will be very unequal opportunities for people to earn money and there will be a division. The extremely rich (as you may know 1% of the richest people in the world control 50% of the world's money), and consequently, the extremely poor. It should be up to oneself to decide to whether or not money controls them, but sometimes it isn't and that's the sad part.

The essential need to live controls us, if you've watched the movie "In Time" their currency is on time itself and people work for time to live longer and they use time to pay for bills and food. Without having money in the same way you would essentially starve as you cannot buy anything to eat or you cannot pay your bills to sustain a shelter. If it weren't a piece of paper it would be something else unless we depended on ourselves which isn't really possible anymore as there 7 billion of us here.

Its not that we couldn't depend on ourselves, its just its allot more efficient to have specialists making food etc, then you have a military because humans like to kill each other for fun and so on.
