Think of it like this. You dissect a motherboard piece by piece. If you try to put it back in (in that state) it's obviously not gonna work. You'd have to put it back together again in order for it to work properly.
Just think of the engine as a computer, just one that reads files and processes them, and nothing else.
And there's no ETA, I believe they still haven't found out what the 44 bytes in the Nexon .rez file was.
