Escape From Alcatraz island
I remember when it all happened. It was a rainy Friday night. The rain was lightly drizzling against my brown coat, turning it to a dark, muddy brown. I was strolling home with my friend when he gasped, and suddenly fell to the ground. When I knelt down to examine what happened, an object that shined against the street and store lights went -Clink! –as it fell to the ground. Unconsciously, I picked it up and started pointing it at the nearest moving object, trying to find who threw it, a women screamed, sirens were then roaring in the distance. Next thing I knew I was in a gray box with bars, a sickening foul odor coming from the window, and mold growing out of the ceiling. I examined my surroundings, discovering that there were rats and other objects I could not name. Just then I looked out of the window and was shocked by what I saw. It was a wasteland, full of gases, the sky was black with pollution, the ground was littered with trash, and tiny rodents were scurrying around picking out their meals. Just then I heard a distant sound, not yelling, and not a car horn either, but a ship horn. I guessed by my surroundings that this prison was on an island, and that the only way out was a ship. I crept to a sack of hay, which they used as a substitution for a bed and curled up into a ball, thinking of how I got into this mess. I was walking home with my friend on a crowded street, he was shot and killed, I was framed, and got sent to this place. Then a knock came from the bars, I looked up and saw a man in a blue suit, black boots, black gloves and a weapon which I couldn’t name in his hand. “Lights out” the man commanded in a rough voice. I stared at the man with a questioning face; he then used his weapon and waved it to a button on the wall which had a single wire leading to a bulb that was shining dimly on the gray walls of the prison. I staggered to the button and pressed it, nothing happened, I pressed it a 2nd time and then a 3rd time but it wouldn’t turn off. I looked back hopelessly at the man; he was tapping his foot impatiently glaring at me with pure hatred in his eyes. It was then when I got annoyed and pressed it with all my strength. It finally turned off. I puffed up with satisfaction, and then looked back at the man. The man was walking away as if nothing happened. I slipped back onto my bed and tried to sleep. I woke to find myself covered in hay. Confused, I walked around looking for a clock. Then, I noticed a tray of food on the floor by the bars, only to find rats consuming it. Angered, I chased away the rats, but found that there wasn’t a crumb of food left. The rest of the day, I wondered when I’d get out.
