Yeah, don't try to continue with that buyer. Who offers a whole $50 to have something ASAP, unless it's something quite valuable.

Scam. Scammers like these are lazy and never come up with anything original so if you are unsure, you can always copy and paste them into Google and a nearly identical message will likely come up. I believe the scam works by tricking people into thinking the check has cleared when they see the funds temporarily available, but after the check bounces in a few weeks the bank will take the funds back.

I don't see how they can scam you... You're not paying them a dime right?

    1. Might actually want to just scam op out of what he's selling.
    2. Might be second part where buyer asks for some of the extra money they paid for back because an emergency has come up, or some bs excuse.
    3. Possibly try asking for a refund, and op refunds thinking the check cleared already when it did't.

Either way, if anyone tries to cash in that check they'll be hit with a bounced check fee.

That's valuable, you make quite a bit of money in the process too.

I've posted quite a fair bit of selling on craigslist and always got a bunch of these people offering to pay through Paypal/Check/Money order, don't do it, more than likely, it's fraud. Why would they be on craigslist or whatever platform ur on, because they're trying to find a cheap item. Would the item still be considered cheap after all extras promised? No. Also, why would they actually trust you with money when they don't even know you? Why not order from a big site like ebay or amazon? It'd actually be faster and cheaper then. There's a bunch of these scams running around, google money order scams and they basically get reversed after a few weeks. I haven't done a trade with one, but I've gotten a lot of these offers when I was listing on craigslist before.
