I'm not sure if you're being coherent to what we're actually talking about....
~
I posed questions of why the internet is being beaten by capitalism like a prostitute, and you're giving examples of how the internet is being exploited for money?

were talking about the internet.
i make a valid counterpoint, and you question if it has to do with anything…

The coherency went off, we were talking about programs. Also my ideology clearly gave the position that no one should have to pay for webhosting or connecting to the internet. The only things people should have to pay for is hardware because these things are physical and not purely information that way they have physical value that can have a $ sign tagged to it.
Maybe some "maintenance" fees for lines since those are also physical (in a way negating the free internet thing).
~
you went very incoherent with that statement.

they pay to host files (your information) on these servers.
thats where it is coherent.
basically, you like piracy and I don’t.

And you keep going incoherent because I keep stating ideology on why they shouldn't have to.

Can't defend your position. And you keep changing the topic from information storage, to programs, to idk what.

people pay for the hardware, so they can charge to host things on it if they want.

and, you can say that open source is better, and if capitalism dies, it will become more than a small percentage of programs, but that could be a long, long time.
sure, most of the programs that are open source are great. open office, handbreak (windows version sucks), neo office, firefox, and i can go on for a very long time.
I don’t like to steal the programs that aren’t open source. and you said “people should code their own” referring to open source. if you feel that way, code a program instead of stealing it.

Sure, the price tags on some programs may be too high, but thats what they charge. And they charge that much because there is no better alternative. Thats why GIMP will always be second stage. Firefox is great, and its a great example of what I just said. Its a great app (somewhat bloated, but still) and there are no browsers that beat it and cost money. Safari and chrome are two browsers that are closed source (still free) that are great, and are slowly gaining ground on firefox. Thats not really revenant, but i just wanted to state that.

Hosts that store information should be paid because this relates to physical server load/maintenance costs.

Programs are information, liberal thinking stands on the idea of freedom of information, no such thing as stealing programs.

you obviously don't understand how the comparison operator really works.
#include <iostream>
piracy = 0;
stealing = 1;

int main();
{
if(piracy == stealing)
{
cout << "this doesn't work";
else
cout << "no";
}
return 0;
}
when you pirate a program, you are gaining access to something for free that normally costs a sum of money.

when you steal something from a store, you are gaining access to something for free that normally costs money.

both are illegal. The only effective difference is, pirating is less looked down upon than stealing. This is mainly because it is easier to get away with, and people that pirate are generally somewhat out of touch with the real world.

you read the story about the guy that tried to pirate the source code to an xbox game at PAX?
