1. ## 60 seconds and 1 minute aren't really the same?

This is a bit of a random question, but the answer ha sbeen bugging me for a long time. Ok so...

On a microwave, if you push 60, then it will cook for 60 seconds or 1minute (following me?)
AND also if you press 1:00 it will cook for 1 minute (right? right!)
okay well my question is...
if you add 1:00 and 1:00 is = 2:00 right? so you can cook food for total of two minutes.
BUT if you add 60seconds + 60 seconds it will only cook for one minute and twenty seconds. Even though 60 seconds is 1 minute?
(I know, confusing question, right?)

I guess put into simpliest terms, How come 1 miniute plus one minute = 2 minutes but 60 seconds + 60 seconds = 120 seconds?

2. what void said...

Yea

5. uhhhhh
60 seconds= 1 minute
so 1 minute + 60 seconds = 1min and 60 seconds, 2 min, or 120 seconds

6. The microwave is programmed to read 00:00, being Minutes:Seconds, therefore, there is not enough "space" for you to program a three-units number in either seconds nor minutes. That's why 120 seconds become 1 minute, 20 seconds, because 120 = 01:20 on the microwave.

Yea
Are you kidding?

because 1 minute + 1 minute = 2 minutes

2 minutes = 120 seconds

60 seconds + 60 seconds = 120 seconds.

How else is it possible? o_O

8. Wow smh i should have posted this some where else .
People who can give me the right answer

This is honestly the correct answer.

In other words, microwaves don't have a hundred seconds place, and furthest left number will just count as a minute.

11. So the question now is: Is 120 seconds 2min?

WHY U SIMPLIFY IT!
NUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

13. I honestly hope your trolling as to why you dont understand.

60 seconds = 1 minute.
1 minute = 60 seconds.

2 minutes is 120 seconds.
(60+60)120 seconds is 2 minutes.

There is not 100 seconds in a minute, but rather 60. The problem with the question is that by adding 60+60 you are supposed to get 1 minute 20 seconds, not 120 seconds. lrn2logic

14. Microwaves are programmed so you don't have to do a lot of thinking when you need something heated. If every time you wanted to heat something you had to type in 120 for 2 minutes instead of 2, life would be tedious.
