Either your parents beat you when you where younger and are trying to make up for it or they are never around and dump loads of cash on you. If you have a gaming desktop why the hell would you need a $1500+ laptop?!?!

    1) I am never home
    2) A 1080P screen would help with video editing/other shit i do.
    3) College
    4) Current laptop broke (Might as well invest in something that will last me some years)

Great list I'm glad to see your thinking for the future but college and video editing don't need a gtx 460 and a core i7. Like @George W Bush said you can get a decent laptop for those things for less than a grand.

how can you mention someone with spaces in their name.. [ME.NTION=9302]George W Bush [/ME.NTION] doesn't work

Actually they benefit greatly. The core i7 improves video rendering time -_- and the gtx 460 I would use for video conversions using cuda.

Anyways, I've decided to go with the asus + 120GB SSD,

    Asus is faster, better, cheaper.

Only recommendation, go for 15" instead of 17" monster, if your going to be caring this thing around, 17"+ = desktop replacement & wait for that 2nd Gen i7 if you can, the lowest processor trumps the highest last gen processor, and the HD Graphics 3000 pretty much == first integrated graphics to kick ass and will actually boost your graphics performance some.

EDIT: Honestly I think you should wait till next week, because Asus will start shipping Sandy Bridge soon.
Also depending on the price of the ssd you might be better off, just getting the default drive, and buying the ssd online: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...CE&PageSize=20

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."
