    New Car?

2007 MG TF (Same as pictured but orange with black wheels)

Standard top speed 140 miles per hour
    0-60 6.8 seconds

Could get that to 6ish seconds if not faster with modifications i could do myself (not bad for a 1.8L)

Would be the obvious choice, But I would have no money left for anything else no audio no mods and insurance would have to wait till early next year

where as the car in the first post I could buy and insure this week and have 6k left to do what ever i want with, motorbike, modifications ect

I am leaning towards a car that is quicker as standard, but I've always been into engine swapping nasty old cars for the surprise factor, and lack of hassle from police

None of the above, I have driven the Z3 and Z4 along with the Impreza; not too sure about the Honda and the MG to be honest.

If you want a decent car for under 8K then go for the BMW 1 Series, they are devine!

Explain how you're going to find a 135 for that much. And Isn't that Impreza you're looking at the wrx? You're not going to have to do any performance mods from the get go.

    Yea its the wrx,
But replacing the tyres with say Bridgestone Potenzas im looking upto £500+ for a set easy

Re doing the breaks which are bound to have wear
black diamond brake disks are £95-130 each x 4
minimum I would spend on the pads would be from £38-45 each

looking at over £3k just for brake disks pads and tyres

You're acting like this things have to be done. These can all be replaced over time.

fair point, but it will take longer if I spend my whole budget...

and to be honest I won't need them, I wont be doing track days till next summer at the earliest
also Gives me something to look forward too in a way
other option is keep it off the road over winter, as I only like 5mins from work anyway and save up
maybe build an audio system over the winter, give the engine a major service and valet it

The cars stats may, I doubt you could though...
My friend has a 400hp at the wheel civic and he can't get under 10sec's 0-60 because he can't drive

and a wrx is around 4.6seconds, the mg however would cost me £2500 to buy modify and insure for a year, where as the wrx would cost
8k to buy and 3500 to insure a year
