Lol, well I read that it can be pretty effective to place fan close to your mobo if it keeps overheating obviously it will have a negative effect if you continue to do so over a long period of time.

@Jetamay, I alternate the fan being on an off. I switch in on for about 10-20 mins when the heating gets real bad, then leave it off for as long as I can.

Seriously, I used to play oblivion for about 30 mins before my laptop would start overheating and the game would become really choppy and laggy and I'd have to pause it while I waited for it to sort its shit out. With my new high tech fan I left Oblivion on for a few hours with no lag. Epic advancement in technology.

Obviously I have an internal fan as well, but I'm guessing its covered in dust and shit or something and isn't doing its job properly. Went out to the back shed and found an old fan just sitting there so I set it up next to the output vent and it cools shit down like a boss. Plus keeps me cool in the summer. Some day I'll probably work up the motivation to actually take apart my laptop to get to the fan and clean it out, but for now, can't be fucked. Pretty sure my laptop is close to death anyway.

Lol, well just be careful, make sure there is no dust build up on the heat-sink or other temp-sensitive areas. A dysfunctional heat-sink will have your computer lasting 5-10 minutes if you're lucky before the mobo shuts down or your drivers start failing.

I put my laptop over a sealed bag of ice when I am playing HoN - it works really well, lol.
