Hey guys.. I need some help.

    Hey!

I know there have been many of these threads about getting new computers, etc, but it's time I make mine. My birthday is coming up on July 11th, and less than 10 minutes ago my mom's dad comes up to my door and tells me to come outside. He says, "What do you want for your birthday" and I said, "I don't know-" and I get interrupted when he blandly says, "You want a computer? Desktop? Laptop? What kind? Tell me!"

So, we get into a conversation and he tells me to go look around of what I want, or do whatever. I was gonna say it's cheaper to build my own desktop, and he says well if that's what you wanna do go get a list of the parts, call me up, and we'll go get them.

Long story short, he's willing to get me a whole new computer whether it's being built, or already built. He's pretty rich, and throughout my life he's helped me and my family through money problems. Not to mention my dad used to be a gambling addict, and every payday he had he'd blow all of his money gambling - my family would be stuck short. No money, no food, and no hope whatsoever. It's gotten better, but he still often does it. 1 month ago, my mom got paid. A full paycheck + a bonus. My dad goes into the account, takes it all, gambles it.

Anyways, I was getting way too off topic. I just need to know. If I was to get my own computer, already built, what should I get? I mean, I even asked him if there is a limit or maximum amount it can be and he said, "I don't care. You tell me what you want and I'LL get it." So, if you could tell me some great computers that I should get, or parts I should use to build, etc.

Now, I don't want to abuse his offer of no maximum. I want to keep it not too expensive, cause he's a really nice guy and I would feel really bad if I just picked the most expensive computer. Anyways, thanks for all the help. Any help for picking a nice computer, or building parts is APPRECIATED.

What is the computer going to be used for?

    Gaming, rendering, editing etc?

The use affects the parts needed.

If you're looking to build cheap and still have a great rig, I'd suggest going AMD.

You get the bag and fumble it
I get the bag and flip it and tumble it
Straight out the lot, 300 cash
And the car came with a blunt in it
Lil mama a thot, and she got ass
And she gon' fuck up a bag
Pull up to the spot, livin' too fast
Droppin' the dope in the stash
In Italy, got two foreign hoes, they DM me
Drop the top when it's cold
    But you feel the heat
Be real with me, just be real with me
Eat it up like it's a feast
They say the dope on fleek

He said it doesn't matter if it's online or from stores.

    Also, I want it to be for gaming probably. I'm a big gamer, and I play pretty low quality games anyways. Right now I have;

    Windows 7
    32-bit
    2.00GB RAM
AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00GHz

    and my graphics card is:
    NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Well 8GB RAM is the maximum that you would possibly go for gaming. Also the PSU should be 700W-800W. If even that.

I don't think so. Though, it'd be nice to have a completely new one, not to mention I've had this computer for YEARS. It was originally a Windows Vista, but I upgraded it.

Thing is; I've never build my own computer, though by looking at all the links it all comes together and looks easier. So, would I just buy all that if I were to build a computer, and basically put it together within the case? (Well, I just said what I had to do..)

Yes, pretty much. Its a lot easier than it looks, you just put hard ware where its supposed to go and plug a wire in from the power supply. You should probably pirate a Windows 7 disc before hand though.

Oh, okay. I was kind of nervous that it'd be uber hard. I already have a Windows 7 disk, cause I pirated it and that's how I have Win7 now. Like I said, this computer was originally a Windows Vista. I got it RIGHT when Windows Vista came out - so yeah. It's old as fuck.
