    I haven't been taking protein. I've been doing P90x along with going to the gym every other day.
    Beans, Steak, green beans, fruit. 10 glasses of water a day

    A protein supplement is a lot cheaper than steak every day.
    And 10x more effective if you spread something like 3 shakes throughout your day, in between meals.

    If you're taking that much you should also count calories. 3 shakes can be ~1000 calories. (1/2 your recommended daily amount.) Protein is also just as easy to turn into fat as sugar.

    Try rice and beans with protein shakes, that should be plenty of protein and it might be cheaper than buying meat almost every day also it will be healthier.

    I don't what your protein shakes are made of, but mine include fruit, milk, ice, and whey protein powder. Not an exuberant amount of cals. Even if multiplied by 3, that's not that much. Plus a physically active, built person will need more calories due to his body needing more energy under the duress of a workout, and the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you need to provide for all that muscle.

    Lastly, your body really doesn't like breaking down proteins and turning it to fat. Turning aminos into glycerol is multi-step process whose net gain in energy isn't nowhere near that of breaking down carbs for fuel. Your body resorts to breaking down protein only when it's starving because protein is very slow burning. And even then, the body only breaks down the protein in muscle.

    A physically active person needs .7-.8g/lb. So that's a lot or protein. Any more protein than that is comparable to overfilling your gas tank. You'll just get the same results out of 90g as you would with 30g. Your body just pisses/shits out the extra protein, it raaarely stores it as fat.
