    Thanks heaps, appreciated.
Word of caution though, Tera has a lot of grind quests and fetch quests, but it's pretty fast to level up and the combat is quite fun. As long is you keep up the pace and party up with other people you'll level up in no time.

Most MMORPGs are old, and any game is basically just trying to out do WoW with all the shit WoW doesn't have, or they're just cloning WoW with almost identical gameplay. Also, a lot of the time to have a good time, and have amazing gear, and be able to brag about all your amazing gear... It's usually meaning you're going to be hardcore. You'll be joining a Top 25 guild and raiding on a weekly schedule.

And I mean, don't get me wrong you don't have to put in the time and effort to do all that, but I find that the point of an MMO. To get to maxlvl, go end game raiding with a good guild, and then brag about getting world first, or having amazing T7 gear. (Or whatever tier your expansion is on.)

Which in this case, you're going to have to have A LOT of free time on your hands, and by the way... Elder Scrolls: Online looks like garbage. (I know you have your opinion, and I have mine. So deal with it.)

P.S This is coming from an ex-GM in a Top 5 in EQ2, back when it was a subscription, and it wasn't so shitty... (The Bekween Alliance for all you wondering. )

Yes, if you wanna get into a good MMO, Rift is absolutely amazing.

Great end-game, and amazing gameplay overall. Not boring to level either.
I love you snuggies, but this whole post is bullshit. No offense.

No, it is not out yet. Also, the graphics in the gameplay trailer do not look too bad.

Well I guess to start really is your reason for not getting into mmo's.
I mean if you're a complete tool bag of a player than sure, all you'll give a shit about is gear.
I know for me it's not just about gear, but it's about the ride along the way. Interesting quests, immersive game play,
forming guilds and having a social experience to go with it. Not everyone that plays mmo's are gear fiends.

Secondly, your WoW comment. I've played maybe 2 games that were trying to be like Wow,
I don't think the genre is infested with as many clones as you think.

Ah, I really didn't try to make it sound like it's ALWAYS about the gear, and all that. And if I did, I didn't mean to.

But I still stand by my comment about WoW. I still think there are many games that take away from WoW. Not saying they're exact copies or anything, but I believe a lot of games take from things off of WoW.

Well in all fairness WoW borrowed plenty itself.

MMORPG's are just one massive circlejerk genre. I mean there are games like Conan, GW, FlyFF and the like that are different, but so many are so generic, it's hard not to see glaring similarities and get bored with the genre. I actually think WoW is more unique, but clones of WoW are generic. In my brief time playing it, it was very polished and felt like a different experience than say LoTR: Online which is really similar to WoW.

That could be said about a majority of genres. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Arma, Sniper, Medal Of Honor, and Spec Ops are all the exact same game with different names slapped on.
I am the seer in the dark,
    the vagabond of yore,
    valediction.
I am the sum of all your parts,
    and proprietor of all.
    A miasma,
    the conclusion,
    blackmonger of Inl,
    valediction.
    Synapses fray,
    my form now vivid,
as torpor sets and blood grows tepid.
With every ounce of flesh now offered,
I hold your corpse within my coffers.
    Knitted cells now split asunder,
    stand alongside me brother.
Take your place amongst my Owsla,
we march at dawn now and forever.

You know what I miss about mmorpg's? Fucking griefing. Nothing used to make me happier than rolling up to some noob in Ultima Online and shanking his shit up and looting his/hers corpse. Now it's all carebear shit. At least you can still do it in Age of Conan once you get past level 10 I believe.
I use an Assassin for my trollenz, sneak around invisible and go on a shank fest. You don't pop any loot off of them though unless the player is an outlaw.

Griefing was amazing. I used to run with a grief clan in some mmo years ago and it was the funnest time I've spent in any mmo. We'd use Vent and create little background stories for our targets then broudcast our misadventures.
