    Question Interested in Photograhy

I've been looking to get into photography but I've just haven't had the time. I recently had surgery so I'm currently on crutches but I should be walking (with my brace) in about 6 weeks or so. This will allow me to have some downtime and of course, it's Summer so I'm not busy with school or extra curriculars. So far, I've narrowed it down between the Nikon D3100 and the D3200. Both are very similar and great entry level cameras but the D3200 is slightly better. It has more megapixels which is always a plus, performs better in video mode and has WIFI capabilities. I'm just not sure if it's worth the extra $100 though. I recently received my stipend for an internship I had at UC San Diego but it's not like I have an infinite supply of money. Can anyone give me their opinion. Just adding in that this will be my first DSLR I've ever owned.

On a side note, DigitalRev TV is becoming one of my favorite YouTube Channels

I prefer Canon and this is from personal experience. I've found them better, more reliable and easier to use as well.

canon is ok for casual photography, ie facebook posts. nikon tends to be better for more professional looking shots.

It all depends on your preference I guess. My Photography teacher at school does runs her own Photography business on the side and she prefers Canon

well when you get into the $2000-$5000 price range the difference between brands doesn't dilate.

It is personal preference but I have heard that Nikon is of a higher build quality, the lenses are better and AF is a lot easier to use. The D3100 and D3200 are already rated the best DSLR cameras for entry level photographers relative to their price. I really like Canon EOS Rebel Line (T3i, T4i and T5i) but they are kind of really expensive...

Yeah I have the T3i. I used a friends Nikon and I hated the auto focus XD

Well they're both really good and if you're interested you should end up going with one of them for sure.

Well I'm guessing since you're actually thinking about the price that you're not some rich kid. So here's my 2 cents.

I think you should get the cheaper one if you're just starting. Lets be real here, lots of people try to "go into" photography, but end up only taking pictures for FB post and what not. Tbh if you're not going to be taking pictures for a job, I think buying an expensive camera is just a waste of money. It's your money so you do what you want with it of course, but it'll most likely just become a hobby you do every once in awhile. So go with the cheaper one and keep the receipt just in case you change your mind.

Hello, I own a Nikon 3100 bought it last year for $659.99 at Bestbuy, Now there selling for much cheaper , But anyways its a great camera I use it a lot when I go out. The kit came with 18-55mm VR Lens very good lens to start with but I just recently upgraded to 55-300mm lenses which are much better and expensive of course. The Nikon 3200 does have 24 megapixels and Wi-Fi connectivity which can be very useful. There is a lot to learn about these cameras but they have a feature where it explains how to use it. Overall getting either one is a good investment.

Btw I got the Red one :]

Who the fuck cares so much about photography? I know that I seriously lack appreciation for the arts, but I will never understand this.

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.

If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

Never even crossed my mind that we had a photography section. Oh well. A lot more people browse through general anyway. I guess I'll use that section for anything photography related in the future.
