ESET 6.0 is alright but it's performance is horrendous. And all of the previous version had shocking 0-day protection. It's not bad but there are better alternatives.

ESET SS 6 has to be by far one of the best programs out there, and is used by a lot of former and current staff members of this site.

I actually hated the old UI, which is why I didn't buy it till the 2012 edition.
I liked having every function of the A/V segregated so I could use each specific function to maintain my PC in the areas which it needed.

You guys should switch to F-Secure if you want pure antivirus protection. Best detection rate on the market and best false-positive detection too.

    I'll check it out.

Ever since I saw the 2012 - 13 results for Kingsoft AV I've switched back to ESET.

New viruses get created daily, that's what updates are for.
If you use a key that lasts until 2018 like I did you certainly do get the updates.
Master posted a virus chart for the best AV's of 2013 and AVG was in the top 3 so it's a good choice.
Just need to find a key which isn't that hard.

It didn't rate as well as other programs available in 2013 and that's from quite a few reputable sources.

I don't use any. If I find a virus, I manually remove it.
I hate how antiviruses detect some random shits and disallow you to do shit.

How do you "find" a virus?

I have AVG Internet Security 2013, its cracked but I still get updates and all. Should I get a new one? Its really pissing me off how it blocks every fucking program I run. I get a crack; it installed blocks and deletes it.

There are good ones like Avast, Avira, Kaspersky, etc.
You still can't run away from hackers.
Being a hacker myself, I know what hackers do. They go through a process called crypting a virus.
Basically that makes a virus FUD (Fully Undetectable) and NO antivirus can catch it.
Some hackers do it manually by breaking the file into pieces and using a hex editor to delete a tiny fragment of it (yes they can do that)
You really can never be safe. I have no antivirus, the only way I protect myself is by using common sense, and sandboxing files using sandboxie.
