    Mic Problems.

Hey guys, I have Mic problems!

The problem only occurs when I play a game.

When ever I start up a game and go in-game, I can hear a fan like noise coming from my computer. While talking to friends on Skype, they hears loud obnoxious noises.

Here is what is sounds like to the other people in the Skype call: b-rand needz mic - YouTube
    WARNING! Turned down your volume.

Any suggestions on why it might be making that dreadful noise? I do not think its the mic, because like I said above, I can hear a little noise of what seems like a fan.

We just installed a new power supply, and a new graphics card for Christmas. Could the reason possibly be that the graphics card was place incorrectly?

Remember, this only happens when I am In-Game.

    Please help, thanks!

Update your sound driver perhaps? Play around with the device settings, try disabling Microphone boost or any other effects/options that may be enabled.

Could you give me a link to the sounds drivers? And I have already messed around with my settings. Nothing seems to be helping.

Have you tried restarting your computer and re plugging your mic?

It's what costumer serve would tell you anyways

I do believe you can find out information about your sound drives in the control panel > device manager.

    Also, dxdiag can help.

"Religions are, by definition, metaphors, after all: God is a dream, a hope, a woman, an ironist, a father, a city, a house of many rooms, a watchmaker who left his prize chronometer in the desert, someone who loves you—even, perhaps, against all evidence, a celestial being whose only interest is to make sure your football team, army, business, or marriage thrives, prospers, and triumphs over all opposition. Religions are places to stand and look and act, vantage points from which to view the world. So none of this is happening. Such things could not occur. Never a word of it is literally true.”

same thing once happened to my mic, went on for about 2 months. I Bought a new mic, didnt fix it. Bought a new sound card, didnt fix it. And finally bought a new motherboard and it didn't fix it. My computer was sitting on my carpet on the floor and i read somewhere that if your computers sits on the carpet then static stored inside of the carpet will flow threw your computer. So what i did was made enough room on my table and got a piece of wooden plank and sat my computer on top of that, and to my belief it fixed it. I suggest you try this before you go out and buy new mics etc... let me know if it worked aswell

No way to know without more information, check out this and report your results:

Ignore the bit about the exclamation mark, just follow the steps for the actual sound device "High Definition Audio Device", "AC97 Audio Device", etc.

It also does it on TS3. It's not just a Skype problem.

hmm. My computer is sitting on the carpet. I might have to put it on a piece of table wood as you did.

How long did you take for your mic to fix after you put it on the wood?

hmm. I tried it, and it didn't work. I did it with the computer off ofcourse. But its sitting on metal computer stand. Should I remove the stand? And does it matter what wood you use?

Im not really sure of the science or what ever behind it but all i know is that putting my comp on a piece of wood works. The wood is about 5cm thick aswell.
