    Opinions Needed - College Options

So I need to decide which college I wanna go to by the end of the month, was wondering if y'all could help out a bit with your opinions.

Pretty much I've narrowed it down to two colleges. My two options are:

1: I go to Purdue College (ranked #2 in engineering) for biomedical engineering (the degree I want). I would pay $30,000 per year, out-of-pocket (no parent help)

2: I go to University of Alabama (ranked like #40) for chemical and biological engineering (almost what I want). They would pay me $7,000 to attend after free tuition, room, and board. Then I would go to graduate school to get the degree I want.

Pretty much do you think I should spend a lot of money for the degree I want from a great college or should I get paid to get almost the degree I want at a school that's... not terrible but not as great as Purdue.

I'm pretty torn. What do you think?

If you're gonna have to go to a college that's going to decide how effectively you'll be doing a job for the rest of your life then you're going to want the best degree possible. Go for the first option, you'll make your way through somehow and by the end you'll know that you made the right choice, I wish you the best of luck.

Option 2. Seriously, option 2. $30,000 a year is a great amount of money, you're not even guaranteed a job when you graduate. Many job positions couldn't care less about where you went to college, its about how you display yourself and how much experience you have. With option 2 you get a full ride, why would you not take that? If you're not well off right now, I'm gonna be judgmental and call you a dumbfk if you take option 1.

Option 2 sounds safe, not doubting you or anything, but I know alot of people that fucked up their first year of college. So, now what? They've messed up their first year and now their in debt from all these student loans.

Option 2, but make sure you pick the career you want.

Wasting years of work for a job you dislike is hell.

Thanks for your opinions. I see @Scotia 's point (thank you btw). Maybe I can assure that I get a good degree in graduate school, while still taking advantage of the opportunity I have at U of A. How does that sound?

I don't think you should base the path you take in life based off of mpgh's opinion. But I think option 2 is better.

"Religions are, by definition, metaphors, after all: God is a dream, a hope, a woman, an ironist, a father, a city, a house of many rooms, a watchmaker who left his prize chronometer in the desert, someone who loves you—even, perhaps, against all evidence, a celestial being whose only interest is to make sure your football team, army, business, or marriage thrives, prospers, and triumphs over all opposition. Religions are places to stand and look and act, vantage points from which to view the world. So none of this is happening. Such things could not occur. Never a word of it is literally true.”

Also there tend to be more hot bad bitches at self esteemed universities too, take that as a plus if you want.

Uni of Alabama is more of a law school; their engineering isn't too great.

Gather round kiddos, and see a prime example of a misguided soul.
You don't have to go to college if you don't want to.
Never go unless you absolutely want to, and have enough money, I learned that the hard way.
I am the seer in the dark,
    the vagabond of yore,
    valediction.
I am the sum of all your parts,
    and proprietor of all.
    A miasma,
    the conclusion,
    blackmonger of Inlé,
    valediction.
    Synapses fray,
    my form now vivid,
as torpor sets and blood grows tepid.
With every ounce of flesh now offered,
I hold your corpse within my coffers.
    Knitted cells now split asunder,
    stand alongside me brother.
Take your place amongst my Owsla,
we march at dawn now and forever.

I graduated with a BA in Architecture. Totally hated it.
I'm back in school for a BA for Web Design and Interactive Media.

Moral of the story is just like everyone has been telling you, make sure it's REALLY what you want before you go and do it.
Take a year off, after high school to think about it even.
Don't end up like me, spending thousands of dollars on a degree, you really didn't want in the first place.

    Now for the MPGH answer:
