This happened over a month ago, but I haven't been on MPGH in forever, so yeah.
I was quietly waiting at an intersection, already stopped, and out of nowhere I hear a tire screeching sound and BAM I got hit.
I must have blacked out because I couldn't remember anything or even tell what happened for a few seconds until I regained my composure.
Airbags deployed, since I was hit from behind at 40 miles per hour or so. Enough to push me like 8 feet forward to hit the guy in front of me, hard enough to completely destroy the hood, headlights, grille, etc.
Still blows my mind, since there was NOBODY behind me for such a long distance, and out of nowhere some stupid ass liberal arts college kid rams into me at 40 or so miles per hour.
My back hurt considerably for a while, though 1.5 months later it still can get a bit sore sometimes.
Thankfully the insurance covered the loss, now I drive a 2012 Honda Accord LX.
I'd say to sue the asshole, but as you said, Liberal arts student, you won't be getting a payout for the far foreseeable future.
Funniest thing. Several days prior to the incident, the guy posted on facebook (I looked him up after getting his insurance info) how his car got totaled. He was along the lines of "When you're waiting at a red light and the next thing you know your car is totaled."
How ironic, considering he did the exact same thing to me a few days later.
And then I saw him at starbucks on friday night. I just hope nobody else has to suffer because this guy is a total idiot.
As you said a college student, so you won't get crap. He prob already has tons of debt already
I didn't even have an intention to sue him. My back hurt for a while, it's pretty much back to normal, so I don't really know what I could go after him for, even if I wanted to.
Insurance reimbursed me after 8 days and I got the accord the same day as the check, so after that there isn't really anything to be upset at.
Though for a period I was overly paranoid because it seems everybody where I live loves to ride my ass.
