Should also add that when you fast forward, the sub track won't load right away. Give it a line or two and it'll come back.

Hard subs and Soft subs depend on if it's a batch and who is doing it. For the example you linked me, that's a hard sub.

The subs for what you just linked me are working fine. When you have the file open in VLC, go up to Subtitle and see if the sub-track is enabled.
