What is the objective though, does this use some sort of standard to generate HWID?

I thought most apps have their own way of calculating HWID which may be different to this?

You can just get this value from Registry Editor: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptograph y
