How do you have a status message longer than required?

Have a friend on my friends list who's status message takes up the whole screen, I'm assuming they're changing something in the back end of the client or something, how would you do this? I'm assuming the same trick can help you unlock summoner spells that aren't unlocked yet if you are level 3 or something like that. Anyone know how? Also what coding language would you use to interact with the league client? Thanks
