It depends on what map you'll play at as well as what your style is. The AK 47 allows you to control the spray extremely easily, making it a phenomenal camping weapon. 3 shots will kill a person across the map, but the high recoil makes these shots slower.
Personay I prefer the AK47, since I'm a sniper and only use a rifle when camping. However, the m4a1 is perhaps overall more balanaced, due to it's high damage, usability over range, and also easy tO control recoil =)
I like m4a1 because is easy to headshot with it. Using ak47 is hard.
But I feel kinda want to use it.
IF you can use the AK, but if you cant, M4.:best gun for starters

You should definately take the M4A1, the AK-47 has more power but it's recoil is high and the weapon is not good at distance shooting. M4A1 has less recoil and more accuracy, and it's much more sexy than the AK-47.
For other commenters, don't just say which gun you prefer, but also give reasons, we don't want him to make the wrong decision and rage at us.
@Invicted Don't take me wrong, but I've used the Uzi and it sucks. It's accuracy is only good when shooting close. And the power sucks so awesomely it took me 7 bullets for a kill...IN THE FUCKING HEAD!!!
