I think the first does have good lighting, but I think you've overdone it and it looks complicated with the blur and the multiple lighting factors.
The second one has great flow, but negative space and simplifies the sig (unless that's what you wanted).
I personally don't like topaz, and I think it's a bit too much, maybe set the opacity down?

I CAN handle CnC.
It's just stupid that a good artist like him, gives amateurish CnC.
The CnC you gave me, is much better. I can actually do something with that ;)/

2nd one is awesome

First one: Good, not sure about diagnol border though.
Second one: Very nice flow and direction, but too much black at top. Crop the height a bit.
