Technically if school was year round teacher's would get paid more because they would have jobs during the summers, kids wouldn't forget as much of what they learned last year allowing teacher's to speed up or skip entirely the weeks of review over subjects students forgot, and of course there would be twice to three times as many school holiday's throughout the year that would break up the workload and keep students from feeling rushed near the end of year, which as I mentioned earlier also leads to weeks of review.
I've actually always supported year around school. it's a good idea, and you still get a month off! ;)
