I was pretty suspicious about the whole thing when I heard it.

I don't think any muslim kid would decide to build a giant clock inside a briefcase that makes noises and not think that's the least bit that's too hollywoodish for a bomb and not think... hmm maybe this is a bad idea? Unless, you're an incredibly ignorant muslim kid. He's in Texas, he's probably heard every derogatory word under the sun. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he's legit autistic and doesn't watch many TV shows / movies.

So I never said anything, but then the fact that I agree it's just an uncased clock attached to a "hollywood bomb" looking case is throwing flags left and right. People take bomb threats really seriously, regardless of age/race/religion.

Also, who the hell builds a CLOCK of all things. We built a simple one without a LED display in my circuits class, but it's not usually something you build, but taking it out of a commercial clock and not doing any modification is not building a clock. If I built the clock, I wouldn't buy a bomb looking case, I'd either build my own box, or just leave it attached to a board and shuffle it along. Though if the clock was taking standard wall current, it makes me wonder how it was powered... And how it would beep in class.

Maybe he didn't do it to get arrested, maybe he gets bullied at school and was like "I'mma show these motha fuckas that I'mma take them with me" or like someone referred to earlier to help his father win an election or whatever if that's true.

I don't know, that just my two cents.

jk a bit. the whole locked up for two hours and detained bit is completely ridiculous. Being questioned and a quick investigation is fine, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that's a clock... I guess for me, getting caught up in the details that you ignore the overall facts... A brown kid should be able to bring a clock regardless to school, whether he made it or not. It shouldn't have ever happened. A white kid should be able to bring a noose shaped rope and not fear getting arrested and charged with hate crimes. It's all pretty silly. People acting like we out here living in Iraq, preying on peoples fears.

You know the worst part of this? He got invited to the White House.
