my mate got mw2 from alteriw, problems are appearing

guys my mate downloaded alteriw, from there site using that piratebay he finished downloading it he extracted it and he started it up but no text appears at all. not even names and not even ig does anyone know this problem and know how to fix it?

right all we did waz download it then extract it then run it, nothing else we started it up
no text appears like play, menu options etc and in game names wont appear the timer wont show up right etc. ive got mw2 on comp and ive never seen the prob, only my mate has got the problem

When you extract it, don't exract it into your steam folder. Make a new folder called call of duty modern warfare 2 and put everything in there. Then open the config to set your username and then just play as normal. It should work. if not I don't know what to tell you... /
