Eh I'm the same way except more of an ass. I don't really feel for people at all. For example, today in my Spanish class this guy was telling this story about how this guys car blew up and started his garage on fire. Everyone was shocked and scared. Then there was me busting out laughing in the corner. Everyone gave me a dirty look which made me laugh more. But like you I can totally tell when someone is upset just by looking at their eyes. I wish I was more empathetic though

No that happens to me all the time. Its not necessarily a lack of empathy. Empathy itself has has no definitive meaning. Some people identify empathy as a sharing of feelings, whilst others define it as a separation of yourself from others. You understand the situation is sad, you know that everyone else is sad, and you understand the reasons for them being sad. That total understanding of their feelings means that you have empathy. You just fail to 'mimic' their emotional state.

I have absolutely no empathy for others. I laughed at all the kony shit, mainly because its all a scam. I even made a photo explaining how raising awareness about kony is pointless, and i get shit for it cause people are waaaaaay too empathic, and stupid. The internet, and being an atheist/republican makes me laugh at death and shit, and i have never cried out of sadness or grief.

I've noticed something that is abnormal. I have a terrible lack of empathy, usually it is near impossible for me to feel how other people feel, I'm always confused in some situations, like death. I cannot feel how other people are feeling, like I cannot be sad with other people, but I can tell they're sad. When people talk, I can always tell how people are feelings through their tones, actions, movement and words they use that other people wouldn't catch up on. You can tell me now that everyone can do this, but I can do this to a further extent. I can tell some of their motives behind of the things they do, but at the same time I can't feel what they are feeling. People tell me I'm empathic, but I feel like its not true because I have a terrible sense of empathy. So are they the same?
