Almost all laptops without separate numeric keypads have a key labelled something like Fn (for function) near the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys. This Fn key is usually labelled using a contrasting color from the rest of the keyboard. Pressing the Fn key makes keys near the right side of the keyboard (which usually have extra function labels in the same contrasting color as the Fn key, on the front edges of the keys) act like a numeric keypad.

To use equivalent keys to Alt-numeric keypad keys, you have to hold down the Fn and Alt keys, and then type in your numbers (i.e., the ones listed on the fronts of the embedded keyboard, not the ones across the top of the keyboard).

I didn't want to because I wanted to PROVE that they work. Guitar Hero complained about the numberpad so I showed a video of me using it.
