Thanks Jorndel,
I see you have updated the tutorial, I have now added the
WriteString((int)Runner, Name);
And all is working well, I have not gone in and out of game but it writes so that is a start.
Can someone make it from C# to .Net?
Sorry I ment vb, please if you have an example on how to do it with vb please reply
Pointers do not work well in VB i have tried and tried, it gets the maths wrong.
This code works in C# so try it
Where can I find this file downloadable?
I've taken this and made an interesting little tool to change names. It's really basic, but I had fun with randomness and my friends seem to enjoy it.
Thanks, Jorndel! Credit was given not only in the source files (especially your class file), but also in the README I threw together for my friends (some of them are pretty stupid). ;-)
It's done in C# (I wanted to mess with it, C++ is stale for me ATM) with .NET 4.5 framework.

im working in VB and i thing is more easier than C++ !
So? VB and C++ are completely different languages designed for different programs. C++ is designed for a better low level programming and speed, while Visual Basic is geared towards the new programmer whom doesn't have much history with older programming languages... that's why its syntax is so similar to the English language (this is what I hate btw). I don't know how to describe it better cause I don't even know VB so...
Without mentioning that C# and VB.net are strictly for Microsoft based machines.

me myself i perfer c# over VB just because. but your right both are used in windows based programs but c++ is cross platform its code can work on Xbox,xbo360 playstation, linux, windows, mac, etc
Most of that, and Visual Basic is more of a scripting language than an actual language. It's like Perl or Python more than anything else.
I'm kicking C# around at the moment because I want to know what all the fuss is about. C/C++ guy here for years now and just want to see what the "easy(er?)" side of the street is like to live on.
Edit:
BASIC is actually older than C++ (1979), having appeared in 1964. C (1969-1972) was a much more extensible, flexible, and low-level language better suited for things BASIC can't touch or touch easily (Linux, anyone?). You don't see many operating systems built on BASIC. ;-)
C++ (the renaming, essentially, of C) is a subset of C, which is low/high level with OO (object oriented). Other types of C are Objective-C, which most Mac/Apple coders use and is also available on multiple platforms.
C#s syntax, to me at least, is more like Java syntax, but with a C++ feel so far. I could get used to this as it allowed me to take this source and use it in an application that not only sets the name for you in MW3, but also does things I haven't seen many other name changers do. And it was whipped up in 20 minutes total time.
Anyway, I am glad this community is active and you coders like to speak code while you code so you put code up so we can code. Thanks!
