The mistake AMD made was that they priced themselves out of the market during the launch of the bulldozer series. They didn't deliver enough gaming performance when you compared them to for instance the I5/I7 even though they were priced quite expensive those days. But now it's all fine to get an AMD, Cheap CPU's with a lot of performance for it's price... Still, if you're looking for a very high-end gaming platform and you don't care about your wallet you could buy the I7
It's not about not caring about your wallet it's about buying the most cost effective solution for what you need. I needed hyperthreading and high clock for clock performance and the 3770K was more than worth it. Bulldozer wasn't up to the task for what I needed and would have cost me more in the long run.

Well of course. If you need a good chip like that with hyperthreading you'll have to get an I7. The FX-8350 was a cheap solution for me

Just put her together yesterday, and she's running great.
I'm really surprised at how powerful it is.

    I'm able to consistently get:
150+ FPS in Warframe (1920x1080, Max Settings)
200+ FPS in Bioshock 1&2 (1920x1080, Max Settings)
    300+ FPS in Half-Life 2, Ep. 1&2 (1920x1080, Max Settings)

Tweaked some settings, managed to push 300+ in Bioshock, and 500+ in Half-Life 2.
I'm absolutely flabbergasted at how well this is performing, even without OCing.
The FX-6300 is a Black Edition as well, so OCing should be easy, in addition to my 650 Ti being the OC verison.

Keep in mind that the settings I tweaked are hardware based, and I'm still running at 1920x1080 with Max Settings.

You should grab Metro Last Light or some other intensive and somewhat poorly optimised game and run benchmarks with it. I'm interested to see what kind of load that little thing can push through.
