Because: Makarov knows where Sheperd is "Site Hotel Bravo"

and the end of no Russian.

and i can confirm that Makarov would have died because if he didnt sheperd wouldn't be a "Site Hotel Bravo"

I rekon that sheperd didn't at first but later in the game he sided with Makarov.

I dont think Makarov is dead, Shepard wouldnt have been at the fight at the airplane grave yard, he was busy with Roach, and they are attacking Makarov in one of his own hideouts he was bound to have intel on Shepard.
