I made 2D games with pictureboxes and sh**, but ppl didn't seem to be able to open it.

I'm now trying to make one with GDI+ which should make things a lot smoother and a lot less buggier

If you want to do something challenging, find out what others need, take a stab at it, Im fluent in VB, i'm learning Visual C#, the best way for me to learn is search my account at rentacoder and see what others are looking for, and just for fun (not to sell) I build it, thats the best way to learn (IMO)

Id start with a complex webbrowser (I know, "don't suggest webbrowser") ,

To be honest, the browser is probably the single most complex thing to do...(not Code wise of course) Why you may ask... Everyone codes (makes) a browser, and they are all the same , from IE to Chrome and every No Name in between, when is someone going to think outside the box? (anyway enough ranting).


If your hellbent on staying away from a webbrowser, you can go a little more complex work on a mail client (like outlook, with as many features).

Finally, one thing I know for sure (there is a huge market and calling for this) learn Getelementsbyid and create auto posters.
