Listen since you have just got the braces they will feel uncomfortable and shit, but once it passes a week you wont notice the difference you just need to adapt

Kraft Mac and Cheese will be your best friend for a few months.
3 mm slices of margarine, 4 slices.
enough milk just to brim the lowest part of the noodles. (Or just pour slowly for 5 seconds)
cheese dust packet.

Took me like two weeks to get used to it. Also every time you change wires it's going to hurt like that for a day or two. But you get used to it. Just eat only soft things for the mean time. If it's cutting your lips use wax.

Well the worst part of braces isn't the pain, that can be relieved with pain relievers, it's your mouth adjusting the fact you have a large piece of metal in your mouth that isn't your teeth. It's abnormal and your brain thinks there's food in your mouth therefore saliva output will increase and you'll have a natural tendency to slurp in the beginning.

Braces eventually just became a natural part and you don't even notice you have them anymore.

You'll get use to it after a week. Just chop down your food so it is very small so you barely need to chew it

bahahahaha, i remember when i first got my braces, first night horrible, 2nd day shit, 3rd day pain died down, 4th day very small and after that you should be all good up until your month check up where the bitch ass doctor has to tight them up and change colors. You will get used to it just dont eat hard stuff, i snapped so many wires before. XD

Fuck what everyone else says, For the first week (and a for the first few days after my monthly checkup) I was on a liquid diet. In my case I just drank chocolate milk and ate ice cream

You can get numbing gel type stuff that you put on your gums and it helps.
I thought it was hard to eat after getting braces... then I had a tonsillectomy

I had braces in 2011 and throughout the first night I woke up constantly, it was a searing pain.
It does hurt initially, you need to get used to the strain on your teeth, but this goes away after two weeks or so.

Every couple of months, for me it was every two months, you have to get them re-tightened. The first time they tightened it felt horrible, agonizing pain. Back to square one. The second tighten, I didn't feel anything, and for the rest of my time with braces I never felt that pain again.

One thing I should mention, I once had a piece of the metal stick out, so everytime i moved my mouth it cut my lip slightly. I tried ignoring it for about 3 weeks and it went away, but it was a bad decision. If this happens report it immediately, I ended up scaring my inner lip, I just couldn't feel the pain anymore. They will give you a gel you put on any locations until you can get an appointment.


Two years down the line, they were worth the pain.

Thanks for the replys everyone, They did give me some really good wax with the kit I got. The pain isnt too bad now, just my teeth are sore and shit. I've been sticking to soup/noodles for a couple days.
