You could. But having somewhere to store the things you don't actively use is a good thing if you ask me.
That way, you free up resources being used on the actual PC you're on.

I have 100GB of 1TB left, so I'm bordering needing more space, but I also have never uninstalled a single game on my PC.. So I could clear a few hundred GB easy, I'm now just considering what SSD size I want.
