Why not just go for a simple Honda Civic, It's cheap and reliable especially if you're just going to Work and Back
So this July I'll be in the US for about 10 months for work. I'll be needing to purchase a car and sell it when I move back home.
Car needs to have a good mpg and be cheap (under 3k or so).
Of course I don't want to drive a turd on wheels so decent looks would help as well.
Any tips on car make and type? I know it's a pretty tight budget but I'll only be needing it to drive from my house to work and back, it's like 20 miles on the highway to get there.
Thanks

Like they said, Honda Civic is your best bet. They're really cheap, and even if something were to break for whatever reason, parts are dirt cheap.
Just buy like 20 Pontiac Aztecs.

I think you should learn to drive first...
I would suggest a Civic, Accord or Camry.

If you want a car get a civic or camry, if you want a truck get a toyota tacoma or a chevy colorado. I drove a tacoma for 6 months as my first truck, it started with 225k miles, I put 245K on it, sold it for 500$ less than I bought it... basically drove it free and it never needed work.

Look on craigslist, make sure it's not a piece of shit, or just rent/lease one.
BRING BACK BT, BRING BACK SAGA, BRING BACK VF, BRING BACK MPGHCRAFT, BRING BACK HABAMON
Yeah, 3k is a VERY reasonable price for a pretty decent car. Especially for that time period, a car worth 3k could probably get you much farther than that, even considering aesthetics. Look on Craigslist like my boy @arunforce suggested.
