Do Overwatch Bans REALLY lead to a VAC ban?

I got a 5.5 week overwatch cooldown, and it's been about 4 or 5 hours since it happened. I just read on here that OW bans lead to VAC bans in 24 hours. Is this true?

Also, if it is true, does it ALWAYS lead to a VAC ban? Or only if they can actually detect the cheat files on your system?

if u get untrusted, u get VAC on profile later.

when OWed ur cheat is not detected if u where cheating.

What i've experienced is that after the period is up, it will display the yellow vac ban banner, you're still able to play on vac servers [ like community servers ] but not mm, to fix that oyu have to reinstall cs. It's just a bug, its happened to me

Yes. The game ban just shows that you have been OW banned.

Your ban is a minorly disruptive ban = temp cooldown ban.

However, if it were majorly disruptive, it would be permanent.

It is true though that OW bans can turn into VAC bans for some people but the theory is that it just prevents the user from playing on other VAC protected servers until it is clear they weren't hacking etc. Just another hacker protection protocol I guess. But this will/should be removed when the time is up
