Well based off your OP and you saying you torrented a video game, I suppose GGN or BCG ? It's all based on what you're after.
Do know that most, if not all, private trackers require you to seed your torrent until you have a 1:1 ratio or whatever their policy is (the one I'm on for example is 3 days + 5 hours for every GB over 5GB) or you'll incur a hit & run. They'll also require a positive ratio, and that varies heavily from site to site. Again, the one I'm on only requires a 0.2 ratio to download. That's almost nothing.
Just checked the status on both of mine listed. They're not currently looking to register more members, but in the near future they may. Those are the best game trackers that I'm aware of, unfortunately.

Not at all, really. Most people leave their computer on 24/7 and therefore don't have any issue with it. Even for the people who don't, you'll usually have seven days to seed three days.
It's always worth joining a private community. Multiple seeders and almost no leechers, top-quality content, active forums, etc.
Shit, I guess that's why MPGH loads in 5 mins for me.
Like if I knew C++ or knew someone who knew it i would've had a custom one made cause most likely they will still find your ip cause its a public program.
You're misinterpreting what a private tracker is. It's just a website, not a client. You're less likely to get someone fishy there than from a public one. Like others have said though, the odds of your IP getting ddosed just because you're downloading from them is extremely unlikely.
Do you understand how P2P or the torrent BitTorrent protocol works? There's no way some modded client is somehow going to magically hide your IP from peers without connecting to an external server to mask your connection, like a proxy or VPN. Without a valid IP how else are they going to send the pieces that you need?
Relying on private trackers rather than public ones like KickAss or TPB are safer because they are often closed/tight communities that make it hard for piracy companies from sneaking in to monitor who downloads or seeds certain torrents. This is why you might hear of "private tracker invites" or open registrations from time to time. However, they often have strict requirements to keep the community thriving and to stop people from leeching without giving back. This is mostly in the form of having a certain download to upload ratio. eg. If a private tracker enforces a minimum ratio of 0.5, and you downloaded 100GB of stuff, you must have seeded/uploaded at least 50GB to other people.

Do you even read my fucking posts? A private tracker has members that are invited to the website. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that your IP will be done any harm when you download files from a member there, rather than a public tracker. Even then, your IP is probably never touched on public trackers.
The only plus side to private is a bigger community that actually dedicates themselves to whatever the website is on. Your BO3 torrent probably had 400+ leechers. If I logged on GGN, it will probably have 0 leechers and an ass load of seeders.
You today found that ? Peer2Peer , wow u dumb
