    op lock request

The op had requested a lock for his thread:

    https://www.mpgh.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1107303

    And it got locked.

I have been a member here for quite a while and I used to frequently see OPs making closure requests and often getting ignored/denied by moderators/minions.
There was even a detailed post a moderator or someone else made that explained how "the op had created the thread, so he has to deal with the discussion, he created it, he will handle it"(can't really find it though).

I know that said thread is rather repetitive and would not generate a very productive discussion, but I want to know if the staff still thinks like that or if it's just wrong minion behavior.
I personally don't think OPs should be able to request locks because it would make a lot more sense to just give all threadstarters that option, but whatever.
just stop. come with me son.

Odd, I've always closed a thread when the OP requests. Why not, if they're done they're done right? If they care so much have the replies make a thread.

He was asking for opinions on releasing something, he received opinions and didn't need anymore. A lock seems fine if he is requesting it as he has received enough information from replies.

Really depends on the thread imo.

I am not a middleman nor do I buy/sell anything. If you are being contacted by someone off-site from MPGH then it's not me! Please report these to me via PM. Don't be stupid, think first.

Yeah but, as I mentioned, I'm not talking only about this specific thread. I feel that the threads are a place for people to discuss and not really only to answer OPs doubt.

Well, if people still want to reply to the discussion it is obviously not done. By the way, rarely are the cases where you can't add more stuff to the discussion.
"if they care so much have the replies make a thread"
So if I wanted to keep on discussing the subject I would have to create another thread just because the OP is 'satisfied'? I don't think that's right

Yer definitely depends on the thread, if its one specifically for the OP then i think its fine for them to request a close.

If its one where the OP is querying things but people have opinions on it that may conflict with others i think they should stay open for more discussion etc,

Thread specifically for OP? Is that a thing?
We could get on discussions about literally anything permacloak-related there, using my first example. If it 'depends on the thread' it's a dependency on either it being very shitty or not - as I said, if you have a mildly-decent thread, rarely will be the cases where you won't be able to add more stuff to the discussion.

We can have conflictual opinions related to the OP in almost every thread.

    It's all contextual.
Are you saying an OP doesn't have the right to close their thread assuming it's not in bad faith?
    Also:

This conflicts with you main argument??

Does it matter if it's in bad faith or not? You're still prohibiting people from keeping the discussion going.

How does that conflict with my main argument? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just give all threadstarters the "close thread" button instead of having them requesting on every thread? That's one of the main reasons why I think these requests make no sense in the first place.

I'm not suggesting that those should be implemented, ffs dude.

You both don't seem to get what I tried to explain: if we don't have a "close thread" button for OPs by default in the forums, we shouldn't have closure requests. Even if, somehow, this point is wrong, we still have the "discussion cutting" one. Once somebody makes a thread, it should remain open for discussions and such.

it obviously depends on the circumstance, but in most cases it should be fine
