How do you prevent this?

Send a message, to leave you alone. Most cyber bullies are from school. Pick out the weakest bully and bash him up and get some embarrassing things on him and spread it on the net, he will most likely spread the word and people will leave you alone or think twice before they try that crap again. I had bulling problems and until I stood up, they didn't stop. If it's not a person you know, then you will need to trace him out, and pull out all the dirt from under his feet and exploit it. (You can always get others to do this for you but risky).
